Installation

Earthing brushes: Type-dependent installation

Type A earthing brushes are primarily designed for retrofitting on site, even during operation (usually at the end of the shaft) and for axial or radial positioning. Type L, LW and S earthing brushes can be installed in almost any position in relation to the shaft. Please also note the typical mounting locations.

Installation of earthing brushes by type

Earthing brushes type L, type LW and type S:

Type L, LW and S earthing brushes can be installed in almost any position in relation to the shaft. I.e. tangentially, axially (running against the shaft and parallel to the centerline) or against the shaft end itself. They can be positioned at the top and bottom of the shaft or anywhere in between.

Type A earthing brushes:

Due to their design, type A earthing brushes are particularly suitable for axial or radial positioning, so that the brush can be installed in the same shaft contact positions as type L and type S brushes. However, it is particularly suitable for axial installation against the shaft end and for other arrangements where the machine configurations are not suitable for type L. Attaching an earthing brush to the end of the cover is often the only way to install a brush while a machine is running. The features of the type A brushes are therefore designed primarily for retrofitting on site, although the design is not quite as simple and robust as the type L.
